Important question

Very soon I plan on drawing the (humanized) four cores from the original Portal.  The kind of input I get from this question will really affect how I design one of the cores…

I’ve always called this one Intelligence Core because it was the first name I saw. However, there seems to be a huge debate as to what its (un)official name is, the top preferences being Intelligence Core, Logic Core, Knowledge Core, and Cake Core.

The first three I assume is because GLaDOS says “I have an infinite capacity for knowledge, and even I’m not sure what’s going on outside.” after you incinerate it (at least when I played through the game).  The last one is pretty obvious—all the core does when you detach it is recite an unusual cake recipe.

There’s Fact Core in Portal 2, which sounds pretty similar to Intelligence or Knowledge.  The only difference between the two I can see besides what they recite is we know the Fact Core is corrupt.  If it’s not truly the Cake Core, then perhaps it was tapping into the cake recipe during the events of Portal 1.

  1. whatnowerik answered: IDK but my bro says it`s the logic core and it recites cake recipes because GLaDOS loaded them on so she could do illogical things? maybe???
  2. fuckyeahappo answered: The soundfiles refer to it as sphere_cakemix :’) And honestly, Cakemix Core or Cake Core alliterate nicely, imo.
  3. kokirianchilly answered: The first one I’ve heard it the Logic core, and it’s also the one I’ve seen most often. Personally, Cake Core makes the most sense to me.
